There is a lot of down-home, old-school country music in the mix here. The music ranges from evocative ballads to bluesy tunes and rockers. It's a solid set with a lot of traditional and classic tones in place. There is a lot of charm to this release.
Stay Picked guitar creates the backdrop for the vocals. This is an old-school country ballad. It's a pretty cut. It gets pretty intense at times.
Handle of Whisky More of a rocker, there is still plenty of country in the mix here. The cut has a healthy helping of the blues, too. I like this one a lot. It's a lot of fun.
Ghost Town We're back into the down-home country territory. This is a slow, mellow cut with a lot of blues in the mix.
Mexico Still slow moving, this has a lot of blues and Americana in the mix. Overall, though, it's pure country music. This is another classy tune on a disc of classy songs. I love the cool rocking movement later in the track. It brings a great retro sound.
Sideways A mellow rocker, this is a good cut, but not one of my favorites here.
Sunshine and Liquor Much more of a bluesy rocker, I like this one a lot. In fact, I might peg this as the best song of the disc. It's built around some solid rocking sound, and the vocals really drive it home.
Trigger Cut from similar cloth as the previous tune, this one has a lot of great rocking energy. This is another candidate for my favorite song here. It's just full of class and Americana style.
Gone The closer is a ballad. Personally, I think one of the cuts that preceded it would have been better in the slot. That said, lyrically this does work well as a parting shot. Folk and country music merge on this decidedly mellow cut.
