"Simple Man" (digital single)

Review by Gary Hill

A man and an acoustic guitar. That's about the most basic musical configuration you can get (short of instrumental or acapella). That's the basis of this song. It lands somewhere in the vein of country music or soft southern rock.

Track by Track Review
Simple Man

I love the intricate acoustic guitar on this song. The vocals have a serious twang to them, bringing a real down-home country element to the piece. Somehow the vocals make me think of a country version of Axl Rose, sounding like Axl Rose does on ballads, anyway. Beyond those vocals it falls somewhere between soft rock and folk music. This is a stripped back and simple song, befitting the title.
