Kachinga

New York (digital single)

Review by Gary Hill

This is a new hip hop single from a Canadian artist. It's an intriguing piece with some unusual sonic concepts. As is true about a lot of hip hop, it does earn a parental advisory on the lyrics.

This review is available in book (paperback and hardcover) form in Music Street Journal: 2018  Volume 3. More information and purchase links can be found at: garyhillauthor.com/Music-Street-Journal-2018.

Track by Track Review
New York
There is a cool piano motif as the backdrop for the opening lines of rap. The cut shifts out from there to a weird electronic tapestry. The piano returns further down the road as icing on the cake.  It works through by varying those two musical concepts.
