Aaron Beri

Naked (digital single)

Review by Gary Hill

There is a clean radio version of this single, but I have reviewed the explicit mix. So, with that in mind, this gets a parental advisory. This has a cool mix of retro and modern textures. It's an effective number.

This review is available in book (paperback and hardcover) in Music Street Journal: 2019  Volume 4. More information and purchase links can be found at: garyhillauthor.com/Music-Street-Journal-2019.

Track by Track Review
Naked
The opening section makes me think of a lot of 80s and 90s soulful music. There is a real timeless quality to a lot of the song. Some of the production calls to mind modern pop music, though. That said, it is never over-produced to the point of feeling fully artificial. This is just a classy sort of pop song. It has such a great soul groove.
