Red Light Runner

Under the Weather

Review by Gary Hill

Alternative rock, emo and punk all merge on this short disc. It's a solid set that works well from beginning to end. There are a couple standouts, but not real throwaway tracks.

This review is available in book (paperback and hardcover) form in Music Street Journal: 2020  Volume 6. More information and purchase links can be found at: garyhillauthor.com/Music-Street-Journal-2020.

Track by Track Review
Breaking Out
High energy and catchy, this is very much in an emo style. There are hints of AOR rock music, too. This is a great opener.
Bottle

A bit meaner and meatier, this doesn't lose any energy in the process. It's a screaming hot powerhouse tune. It still manages some accessible hooks.

All That I Have

As good as the first two cuts were, this is even stronger. It is a smoking hot hard rocker with some punk in an alternative rock mix.

Tell No Lies, Ask No Questions

I like the energy of this tune. It has a better balance between more rocking and restrained sections. This probably lands closer to the alternative rock end of the spectrum.

Yesterday

This seems to come full circle with more of a pure punk or emo vibe to it. Still, it has an AOR edge that brings into more mainstream zones.
