Shruggin' Off The Feelings

Review by Gary Hill

This Arizona based trio delivers a great sampling of high energy and catchy pop rock on this EP. There is a good range from song to song, yet there is also a consistency to it. While this definitely leans toward seriously hard rocking sounds, it never loses sight of catchy hooks. However you label this, consider it entertaining.

Track by Track Review
The Ride
This comes in a bit restrained. The vocals bring a pop sound that makes me think of the most pop side of Blue Oyster Cult. It has some great hooks and works well.
Recall
A faster-paced number, this has some punk and alternative rock in the mix. It's another strong number and a different (yet related) flavor. This is meatier than the opener was, but no less accessible.
Trade the Market
With some hints of Americana in the mix, I love the fuzz-drenched musical texture to this thing. There are definitely hints of shoegaze in the noise-driven concept of this number.
4 on 1s
This energized power-pop tune really rocks well. It's not a big change, but it almost seems to merge the sounds from the three songs that preceded it.
Don’t You Know I Know
Another song with plenty of power-pop in the mix, this also incorporates some shoegaze and even some reggae. It's another strong piece on a disc full of strong music.
