Arthur Adams Kick Up Some Dust Review by Gary Hill The newest album from blues legend Arthur Adams, this finds him in great form. His sound calls to mind many blues artists, but most often I think of Buddy Guy and B. B. King. When it comes to the blues I can't think of much better company to be in. This set has a nice mix of sounds. Every song works well, and it's a fine addition to Adams' catalog. Track by Track Review

It Makes Me Mad This has such a classic melodic guitar blues sound. It's a strong tune set in the fine tradition of blues greats like Buddy Guy and B. B. King. I really love the guitar solo on this thing.

Starving For Your Love More up-tempo and rocking, horns bring something special to the mix. The soulful backing vocals are a great touch, too.

Hold On To Me A slow, dramatic, blues sound is on the menu here. As good as the two previous cuts were, I think this raises the stakes even higher.

Fly With Me To Paradise Somehow this feels a bit more soulful. It's another solid tune, but I don't care for it as well I do its predecessors.

Kick Up Some Dust The title track has a real blues rocking groove to it. It's definitely a step back up for me.

I Love You More Here we get a slower, mellower tune. This has some layers over the top that lend a lush, almost orchestrated angle to it.

University Of Hard Knocks Another classy blues groove, this one seems a little older in style. I'm again reminded of the King of blues to a large degree, but also Mr. Guy.

Done Got Over You I really dig this rocking blues tune. It's a lot of fun.

Cool As A Cucumber Classy, classic sounding guitar blues is on the menu here.

Thieves Of Love This is another that makes me think of both Mr. King and Mr. Guy. It's another particularly tasty guitar blues tune of the slower variety. In fact, it's one of my favorites here.

A Bag Of Soul This instrumental features some especially expressive guitar soloing. There is also some tasty saxophone showcasing in the second half of the tune. It's all packaged within a great blues groove.
