Kurt Hagardorn

An Analog Man In A Digital World

Review by Gary Hill

This is an intriguing set of music. It largely lands in the general rock zone, but there variants here. Those variations take it toward indie rock, old school rock and roll, country and more along the road. I would say that it's the most unique thing I've heard, but it's definitely well done.

Track by Track Review
Tractor Beam
Fast-paced pop rock is on the menu here. As a big "Star Trek" fan, this earns a lot of points with me for all the references. It's a little proggy, but overall has an indie rock groove to it.
Caveat Emptor
More straight rock and roll, piano and horns bring some magic to this bouncy tune. It's a fun one, and I think it's a step up from the opener.
I dig the blues rocking guitar soloing on this. I like this bouncy rocker quite a bit.
Waiting By The Phone
This is another solid rocker with a lot of classic sound built into it. It's not a standout, but it works well.
Evangeline Hop
For some reason this make me think of the rocking side of John Cougar Mellencamp's music to a degree. There is definitely a lot of country music built into it. The piano work on the final section of this thing is tasty.
High in the Shadows
Energetic and bouncy, this rocker is all class. It's a lot of fun and one of my favorites here.
Natural Fact
There is a real old school rock and roll groove to this number. It's another that's very entertaining. In fact, I'd consider it another highlight. The horn is a nice touch, too.
Wiggle In My Soul
The guitar sound on this is so classy. The tune is a fun rocker. The sound is classic, and this has some cool slide guitar. It's also catchy in a meaty way.
Tina! Tina!
I dig the energy and mean rocking groove on this. The guitar work is on fire here.
Hard Black Train
There is  lot of country music in this. It's also got some boogie rock and blues built into it.
