Lawdy Miss Clawdy
I dig the piano and the whole old school rock and roll type groove to this number. This is exactly the kind of thing that certainly inspired the early work of The Beatles. |
Oooh-Oooh-Oooh I love this rocking groove. As solid as the opener was, I think I prefer this tune. |
Restless Heart I love this fun groove. Both the saxophone and the piano bring magic to the table. |
Ain't It A Shame This is a cool bluesy jam with plenty of jazz in the mix. It has a great groove to it. The saxophone solo is classy. |
Tell Me Pretty Baby I dig this energized and rocking groove a lot. The saxophone wailing is on fire, and the whole tune just works well. |
Just Because More of a bluesy number, this is slower. It's all packed with emotion. It's not as aligned with my tastes, though. It definitely has its charms. |
Stagger Lee More energetic and rocking, this is a lot of fun. |
Where Were You (On Our Wedding Day) Bouncy and driving, this is a fun romp. I'm reminded a little of some of the melodies of Chuck Berry's " Ding-A-Ling." This is a more serious tune, though. |
Have You Ever Had The Blues? This is a fun romp. It's not any kind of big surprise, but it works well. |

Personality
This was apparently his biggest hit and his signature song. I have certainly heard it before. It's not really my kind of thing, mostly because of the backing vocals, but it's fun enough. |
I'm Gonna Get Married A bouncy 1950s rock and roll vibe is all over this thing. The tune is another fun one. I'm not a fan of the backing vocals, though. |
Three Little Pigs Now the jazz-meets-rock-and-roll groove on this is so much fun. I'm again not overly crazy about the backing vocals on this, though. The horn playing, on the other hand, is magic. |
Come Into My Heart A slow moving, doo-wop styled tune, this doesn't work well for me. Then again, I'm not a fan of doo-wop, so your mileage may vary. |
Wont'cha Come Home Bouncy and jazzy, this is very effective. It's probably my favorite on the second side. |
Lady Luck I love the bouncy, jazzy groove built into this romp. |
Never Let Me Go This is a crooner styled piece. Again, it's not my thing, but a lot of people are sure to enjoy it. |
No If's - No And's Another bouncy, jazzy romp, this is entertaining. |
Question With a real musical theater vibe, this track works reasonably well, but it's not a highlight. |
