Summerlyn Powers
The Hive
Review by Gary Hill
This EP features an intriguing blend of sounds. There is a country element at play for certain, but many times that's strictly because of the vocals. Summerlyn Powers' voice is pleasant and effective. The music leans toward mainstream rock and pop sounds but also works in folk music directions. This is a solid release of entertaining tracks. I have to say that the lack of apostrophes on the titles of a couple songs heavily annoys me as an editor, but I've left them as they are printed on the sleeve.
