Review by Gary Hill

There is an intriguing mix of sounds on this album. Different songs lean on different influences, but rock, blues, folk and country are the most frequent encounters here. This has a great classic sound but with modern leanings, too. There are a few tunes that stand particularly tall, but nothing really falls flat for me.

Track by Track Review
Travelin' On

Coming in like a soft rock tune, the number turns a lot more country based with the addition of pedal steel guitar. This is roots based number that has some folk rock in it.

Lost Until I'm Found

More alternative rock based, there are still some hints of roots music in the mix here. The organ lends some retro cool.

One Last Time

Folk rock and country seem to merge with some alternative art angles. This cut is intriguing. It is actually one of my favorites here in a large part because of the overall vibe. The organ solo is cool, too. The electric guitar solo really rocks.

Fences

Less roots based, there is an art music vibe merged with alternative rock and classic rock sound at the heart of this track.

Accepting

I really love the piano work on this. The cut has a classic rock meets jam band vibe. It’s a nice change and another of my favorites here.

Sometimes We Need Love

The roots music angle is back here. This song merges a slow rock sound with a lot of country angles. It’s a solid tune, but not really standout for me.

Understood

Slow and bluesy, this has a real classic rock vibe to it. It’s a strong piece of music.

Most of the Time

Another slow moving cut, this has a lot of country in the mix, but also healthy helpings of music.

It's Too Late

There is more of a dramatic rock ballad thing at play here. The track still has some country elements built into it. Still, the mainstream rock vibes on this work so well. This is another standout track.

Last Breath of Life

Mellower, soft rock based stuff is on the menu here. Pedal steel later brings more of that country angle to bear. This is a pretty classy tune that makes for a strong closing statement.
