Queen

Live at the Rainbow 74 BluRay

Review by Gary Hill

I love Queen. I wasn’t crazy about some of the music they did later in their career when they seemed to focus more on pop ditties than rock music, but overall, they were always a very talented band. This concert predates even “Bohemian Rhapsody.” It finds them in fine form doing their earlier music. It’s amazing to hear how hard they rocked and how much of a live powerhouse they were in those days. I like the more proggy stuff that would come later a lot, too, but this has a lot of progressive rock elements in place. The vocal performances that they pulled off live were amazing. Brian May’s guitar sound is unmatched by anyone. These guys just plain rocked. While this isn’t up to the modern standards in terms of video and audio, it’s still very good. I’d recommend this to anyone who has ever liked Queen. It’s a great concert and a great disc.
