Nazareth

No Means of Escape BluRay

Review by Gary Hill

I have always been a big fan of Nazareth. At one time I’d seen them more than just about any other band live. I haven’t caught them live in quite a while, though. So, videos like this really help me to feel caught up on the group’s live presence. This particular gig is a bit of an oddity in the history of the band. That’s because Dan McCafferty recently had to step down as lead singer because of health issues. He was replaced by Linton Osborne who is featured here. What makes this really unusual is that Osborne has since left the band, so this is almost a time capsule performance.

The concert video itself is captured well in terms of audio and video. Osborne was no McCafferty, but he did a solid job. The show is a good one, really. This is what you expect from Nazareth for sure. I’d say that it’s well worth having just for the concert, but there is also a documentary included here (Made in Scotland). That includes a lot of interviews and is an awesome bonus. There are also a few bonus features. This is a great package really. I’d highly recommend it.
