The Beatles

20th Century Icons: The Beatles Parting Ways DVD

Review by Gary Hill

There are a number of issues with this release. First, it’s a reissue in new packaging of a documentary from 2010. So, it’s dated. Secondly, this is unauthorized. That means you don’t get things specifically filmed for this. Those things are true of all the unauthorized documentaries. This one seems to get some things wrong, too, though. Finally, there are no bonus materials on the disc.

So, once you get past those things, I did find this entertaining. I mean, you have to take their “facts” with a bit of a skeptical mindset, and the odds are you won’t find anything you haven’t seen before. All that aside, it’s a worthwhile watch. Now, if you own the other edition, you might want to skip this one unless you are completist, then you will need it.
