U2

20th Century Icons: U2: A Rock Crusade DVD

Review by Gary Hill

This documentary focuses on U2s efforts to improve the lives of people in the world. Certainly, you can argue about many things, but it was a noble goal. Now, this is not a new documentary, but rather a new edition of a documentary from 2008. It’s also an unauthorized documentary. That means they didn’t have any real access to the members of the group.

All that said, as unauthorized documentaries go, this one is better than many. If you are a fan of the band, and you don’t have the original edition of this, you might want to pick it up. The puzzling thing is, the original had some bonus featurettes, but this does not. So, all you get is the documentary that is less than hour long.

This review is available in book (paperback and hardcover) form in Music Street Journal: 2025  Volume 2. More information and purchase links can be found at: garyhillauthor.com/Music-Street-Journal-2025.
