03/17/2009 - Escherbach Release Cycles
Live at Cheers Also Available

March 1st, 2009, South Bend, IN – Instrumental trio Escherbach released their first full-length studio album in February. Cycles showcases the group’s musical vision combining fusion arrangements with post and progressive rock. The result has enough intricate musical changes to please the technical junkies while maintaining an accessible song structure that will capture the more casual music fan.

Andrew S. Hughes had this to say about the CD in the South Bend Tribune: “On Cycles, the music adroitly shifts from hard rock to lyrical blues-inflected solos, from melodic mid-tempo sections to brief repetitive, droning passages, with turbulent transitions often bridging parts of songs. Comparisons to Pink Floyd, Rush and Umphrey’s McGee all come to mind at different times while listening to Cycles.”

In the same publication Jack Walton said, “The trio is interested in portraying in its music notions that are far removed from the usual lyrical concerns, such as love or politics. Escherbach is going for more cosmic themes."

In an upcoming issue of Music Street Journal Gary Hill used this description in his review of Cycles: “The South Bend, Indiana outfit takes fusion, Rush-like elements and other sounds and merges them into a motif that’s a bit odd at times and yet, quite catchy. In so many ways you’ve never heard anyone quite like this – and yet it seems familiar, too.”

In addition to Cycles, the group released a live disc, Live at Cheers at the same time. While they are promoting the studio release, Live at Cheers is a bonus disc available for free with orders of Cycles and at shows.
