Dream Theater

Live at Luna Park BluRay

Review by Gary Hill

This is arguably Dream Theater’s best live video released thus far. In fact, I’d say that it would be hard to argue otherwise. The sound and video quality are both impeccable and the performance is one of the best I’ve heard from them ever. I’ve seen Dream Theater shows that were great. I’ve seen shows that left me a bit disappointed. Well, this show is quite possibly the best I’ve ever seen from them. I should add that this might be the first performances I’ve seen from them without Mike Portnoy. As much as I like and admire Portnoy, I have to say that Mike Mangini fills his shoes very well. This thing gets about the highest recommendation I can give it. It would make a great introduction to the band. The set list seems to cover the wide range of Dream Theater sounds from metallic to mellow to pure prog and back again. Everyone seems to be on top of his game and this is just a nearly perfect presentation. I love it. I can’t say it any more clearly than that.
