Toto

Live at Montreux 1991 BluRay

Review by Gary Hill

I like Toto quite a bit. I have to admit that I saw them live a year or so ago (opening for Yes) and they really didn't sound good. It was probably a bad night. This show is from 1991. You might expect based on that fact that the video wouldn't be up to today's standards. This was actually filmed in HD (an early example) and so looks great. The sound quality isn't quite as spectacular, but is still pretty darned good.

This was a great concert. The band was a four-piece at the time. The selection of songs is great, and these guys just rocked it. The encore is exceptional. They cover Sly Stone ("I Want to Take You Higher") and bring out a whole host of other musicians who also played the festival to join them. I love the fact that you get a bonus CD of all the music from the BluRay. That's always a nice touch. This is a release that's well worth having.
