Field Report

Live in Portland, Oregon, May 2018

Review by Larry Toering

Field Report came to Portland and simply killed the Doug Fir Lounge. The venue itself is made of tree logs with an interesting set up that is unlike any other venue. They were perfect for this room with Christopher Porterfield and Company turning in a remarkably memorable performance that left me pretty much stunned for the rest of the night.
They have a sublime ambience to their music and a super heartfelt vocalist who knows exactly what he’s doing to command the respect of the audience. The room was completely captivated by their charming performance. You can call it what you want, but they’re mostly an indie-folk rock band.

They ran through their catalog like madmen, also showcasing tunes from the new album, Summertime Songs. And that’s where things really stayed in the pocket with the title track and others getting their outings, particularly the track "Blind Spot," which is vastly becoming a favorite of mine already. If you get a chance to see this band you will not be sorry, as Portland were knocked off our feet to say the least.

It’s amazing how a band can build up to this and basically arrive in the minds of their fans. The crowd knew most of the songs, and that made it all the easier to take in with the energy increasing as they forged on through their awesome set. If you get a chance to see Field Report in action, you’ll come away pleased you did.
