Renaissance
Live at the Union Chapel DVD
Review by Gary Hill
The first thing I noticed about this set is just how good the audio and video both are. This is a top notch concert video for sure. Then, when you add in the powerhouse performance, this is really a “must have” for anyone who has ever liked Renaissance. Whenever you have a band with as large a catalog as Renaissance, fans will argue about what set list in the ultimate one. This is a pretty great selection of tunes, really, though. It includes “Prologue,” “Carpet of the Sun,” “Ocean Gypsy,” “Running Hard,” “Grandine il Vento,” “Symphony of Light,” “Northern Lights,” “The Mystic and the Muse,” “Mother Russia” and “Ashes are Burning.” Sure, you could quibble if your favorite song isn’t included, but really there isn’t much to complain about here. The lineup for this show was Annie Haslam, Rave Tesar, Mark Lambert, Leo Traversa, Tom Brislin and Frank Pagano. An interview rounds out the set as a bonus feature. This is just such a classy DVD.
