Days Between Stations

Interviewed by Gary Hill

Interview with Sepand Samzadeh of Days Between Stations from 2017

MSJ:

It's been a few years since we interviewed you guys. What's been new in the world of Days Between Stations?

It’s our pleasure spending time with Music Street Journal again.  I remember back in 2007, early 2008, when we had our debut we were so eager to read your review.  MSJ has a special place in our hearts.

As far as new news since we last spoke, I’m loving being a dad to Tiam and Idin, four and one respectively.  Our third album, Giants, is being released this fall. Simultaneously we are getting ready to rehearse for live shows, which would be the first in our 13 years as a band.  We just finished composing music for one film and have another one coming our way.

MSJ: What's ahead for you?

I thought Giants was a great experience for us.  Billy Sherwood had a heavier hand in composing, arranging, and writing lyrics.  He was a third station, basically.  It was nice to lean back and learn from the master.

We’re hoping to do a brief tour, or at least play in festivals.  A movie, based on the work of photographer and artist Jean Paul Boudier aptly titled “Being."  It is an incredible experience so far.  I’m also excited about working on the fourth album.  I feel excited about everything.

MSJ: What was the last CD you bought and/or what have you been listening to lately?
I’ve been on a 80s kick lately….. Welcome to the Pleasuredome Frankie Goes To Hollywood
MSJ:

Have you read any good books lately?

How to Talk So Kids Will Listen… Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish

Way of the Zen Alan Watts

MSJ: What about the last concert you attended for your enjoyment?
Alex Machacek’s FAT
MSJ:

Do you remember your first concert?

Will never ever forget it…. Nov 1993, Toronto Maple Leaf Gardens…. my heroes… Nirvana

MSJ:

Have you come across any new gear recently that you love?

I have Nelson Guitarwerks build my instruments now.  I am fed up with Fender’s and Gibson’s arrogance.

MSJ: Are there any closing thoughts you would like to get out there?

Just want to wish everyone a great happy and healthy year… see you soon

MSJ: This interview is available in book format (hardcover and paperback) in Music Street Journal: 2017  Volume 5 at  garyhillauthor.com/Music-Street-Journal-2017.
