John Scofield

New Morning-The Paris Concert DVD

Review by Gary Hill

Jazz guitar can be a wonderful thing, in the hands of the right performer. John Scofield proves in this DVD that he’s one of those performers. This concert was in April of 2010. It features veteran jazz guitarist Scofield along with pianist Michael Eckroth drummer Bill Stewart, and bassist Ben Street tearing through a number of killer jazz arrangements. When you figure that twelve songs run over two hours, you’ll understand that these are strong extended jazz jams. The video and sound quality are both excellent. If you are a fan of jazz guitar you really need to own this.
