Iggy And The Stooges

Tribute to Ron Asheton DVD

Review by Gary Hill

This DVD captures a very special concert. Ron Asheton was a founding member of Iggy and the Stooges. This concert was a tribute to Asheton and features a great live performance from Iggy and the Stooges  with some special guests. There is an extended introduction with some interviews talking about Asheton and his contribution to the Stooges and the concert itself. One of the main people talking is Henry Rollins and he not only introduces the band at the show, but also sings the first song of the set. This is a powerhouse set and the audio and video are great. It’s an appropriate tribute to Asheton and a great concert video. This is highly recommended to all fans of Iggy and the Stooges and to fans of the proto-punk genre in general. One might almost say “if you like your rock raw and energized, you need this DVD.”
