Justin Hayward

Live In Concert At The Capitol Theatre DVD

Review by Gary Hill

This new concert film is extremely good. There is only one bonus feature - a music video for the song "The Wind of Heaven." That said, bonus features are just that - bonus. The real meal here is the main concert. Hayward plays with a three-piece (including himself) band. It makes the music seem a bit more intimate, but it never seems lacking. In addition to his own material, he also does a good selection of Moody Blues songs. For me, the highlight was "Forever Autumn." I love that Jeff Wayne version of The War of the Worlds, and it's so great to hear the song still alive and well. All in all, I'd recommend this to fans of Hayward, of course, but also to anyone who has ever enjoyed the Moody Blues. One could say that it's not the Moodies, and it's not, but Hayward has always embodied the spirit of the Moodies to me. His voice and his performance still hold up very well.
