Pat Travers

Live At Rockpalast: Cologne 1976 DVD

Review by Gary Hill

I always love it when DVDs include an audio CD of the show. That makes it more versatile. This is one such package. Other than that CD, the only bonus here is the trailer for the show. Pat Travers fronted a power-trio in this 1976 outing on the German TV show "Rockpalast."  While overall this lands in the vein of bluesy 1970s rock, it works into proggy jazz-oriented territory at times. Travers gets the chance to show that he's a real master of slide guitar, too. The sound and video aren't perfect, but they are solid for the time period. If you like Travers, you should give this a chance. While the cover shows a black and white picture, the show is actually in color.
