Frank Zappa
Summer '82: When Zappa Came To Sicily BluRay
Review by Gary Hill
Don’t come here looking for a concert film. If you do, you will be disappointed, but this is really far more. This is the story of Frank Zappa’s 1982 concert in Palermo, but that is only part of the story. This is a film about friendship, music, adventures and even more than that.
While the concert and tour and other events leading up to it are all documented through archival footage, interviews and more, this doesn’t stop there. In addition this film includes footage of Dweezil and Diva Zappa following in their father’s footsteps, revisiting the journey.
This is a fascinating story. It is also a documentary that covers that story in unique ways. It should be noted that much of this is in Italian with English subtitles. If you let that stand in your way of checking it out, it will be your loss, though.
