Circle of Dust

Full Circle: The Birth, Death & Rebirth of Circle of Dust DVD

Review by Gary Hill

I feel like I came into this DVD backwards. I am familiar with Celldweller. That project is one guy, Klayton. I interviewed him quite a few years ago and got into his music at the time. Well, as it turns out, before Celldweller, Klayton was the main man behind Circle of Dust. It was a project that started and eventually ended, but then more recently came back into existence. There is a lot more to the story, and you can get it by watching this killer double DVD set. The first disc is the documentary, and that really does a great job through interviews and more of running down the whole history of the band.

The second disc includes quite a bit of great bonus material (and actually there is some bonus stuff on the first disc, too). On disc, too, though, we get some live VHS bootlegs, along with music videos and lyric videos. That makes this almost a documentary and, music video collection and concert video release all rolled into one killer set. It's well worth having to see a different side of Klayton's art.

This review is available in book (paperback and hardcover) form in Music Street Journal: 2018  Volume 5. More information and purchase links can be found at: garyhillauthor.com/Music-Street-Journal-2018.
