Journey

Escape and Frontiers Live in Japan 2017 Blu-Ray

Review by Gary Hill

Escape and Frontiers are two classic albums from Journey. This new live video finds the band playing those discs in their entirety. The video and audio quality is top-notch. So, are the performances. These guys are consummate professionals, and it shows through here. This full-album format is cool because it means that we get more than just the hits. It is easy to forget that Journey can really rock if all you hear are the big-sellers. Singer Arnel Pineda has an amazing voice. I should mention, too that I don’t think Neal Schon gets the credit he deserves as a guitarist. He is very talented, and it is made obvious here. The whole band really make this work, though. One of the cooler aspects of this set is that it includes the show on audio CD. In fact, it's two audio CDs, one for each album. That kind of represents a live version of the original discs. All in all, this whole thing comes highly recommended.
