Lee “Scratch” Perry

The Revelation Of Lee Scratch Perry DVD

Review by Gary Hill

This DVD is a documentary about the making of Lee "Scratch" Perry's album Revelation. I have to admit that, while I enjoy Perry's music, I'm not really any kind of hardcore fan. Perhaps this would be more vital to someone who is. I found it a little lackluster and at times dull. Still, the insights into this interesting artist make it worth checking out either way. I think perhaps Perry is a case where his music is better at doing the talking. Again, I'm sure this is recommended for more hardcore fans, but even I found some value in it. It's just not one of my favorite music documentaries.
