The Platforms

Kicked Off

Review by Mike Korn

With influences of bands like the Stooges and ‘80’s hair metal with some punk mixed in, these bad girls create noisy but melodic rock The Platforms started as a idea for a band that would mix a bad girl persona with glam and garage rock, and a fashion style from the 60's and 70's.

This review is available in book format (hardcover and paperback) in Music Street Journal: 2007 Volume 6 at lulu.com/strangesound.

Track by Track Review
Kick Your Rock Off
The CD’s opener comes out running with some high energy 70's style glam rock.
Fly
This reminds me of Josie Cotton back in the 80's with the pop style hooks like she created in her songs.
Wimp
With rocking guitar and a punk style attitude this is too cool.
Scorn
A spiteful love song with lyrics like “I loved you / You love me / Now I hate you,” this is a good track.
'Cause You Wanted Me Too
Bad girls are great - hot guitar and hot lyrics serve this song about lust in the backseat.
Strange
Here’s a hot number that really shows their influences.
Sue's Blue Shoes
A song about someone’s shoes, this has very Ramones influenced playing.
Bang Me
Another fast tempo rocker, this is about . . . well, the title say it all!
Wall of Shame
“Wall of Shame” is a catchy tune with some great lyrics and tight rhythm section.
The Joke's On You
The disc’s closing track rocks even better than the first cut. I wish the Runaways were this good.
