Track by Track Review
Our Lady Peace-Tomorrow Never Knows This is a very strong and modern rendition of a great Beatles` composition. It should appeal both to Beatles fans and fans of modern music. |
Heather Nova-I Have the Touch Originally a Peter Gabriel song, the track has an alternative texture and, at times, almost reggaeish elements. Musicians on this track include Andy Summers and The Cars` Greg Hawkes.
Sponge-All This And Nothing This is an alternative, bare bones rocker with definite gritty moments.
Letters to Cleo-Dangerous Type Featuring a slightly more straight forward approach and female lead vocals, this is a very good rendition of this Cars classic. Appropriately, this number also features Greg Hawkes on keyboards.
Love Spit Love-How Soon Is Now? This Smith`s song is covered here quite well. The Tommy James Crimson and Clover sort of feel that the Smiths frequently exhibited is present here. In fact, this really sounds very much like the Smiths.
Matthew Sweet-Dark Secret Theremin usage on this song lends a very interesting texture to a song that combines `60`s pop elements with dark alternative stylings. Lindsey Buckingham, among others, joins Sweet on this song.
Juliana Hatfield-Witches Song A somewhat countrified folk rock song, Witches Song features a rousing rock chorus and some imaginative guitar work.
Tripping Daisy-Jump Into the Fire This track feels very much like Janes Addiction.
Jewel-Under the Water A very catchy number, this one is rather discofied.
All Too Much-Warning A very funky `70`sish tone makes up much of the texture of this piece, which is a credible modern rock piece.
Elastica-Spastica Spastica is a power-pop number with Chrissie Hyndeish vocals.
Spacehog-The Horror Starting in a weird, somewhat `60`s influenced texture, once it drops into the central song structure, the mood to this composition is quite like Lenny Kravitz` work.
Graeme Revell-Bells, Books And Candles This cut is and odd textured piece based heavily on Eastern Indian vocals. The general tone is much along the lines of Enigma.
