Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction We Are Volsung Review by Gary Hill I’ve always liked this band a lot. They really have a cool blend of raunch and roll, combining a killer rhythmic groove with punk, metal and garage sounds into something that is distinctively their own. This album will probably please just about anyone musically who likes their rock hard and meaty. Those, though, who have a problem with raunchy lyrics should look elsewhere. Track by Track Review

Stark Von Oben This chugs in with a killer riff. It’s a smoking hot, nearly metallic number. It has a lot in common with stoner rock, but these guys were doing this stuff first. Rob Zombie also comes to mind. There’s a mellower segment and a noisy guitar solo.

We Are Volsung The general mode here isn’t all that different, but this is a meaner cut. It, in some ways, makes me think of Brutal Planet era Alice Cooper – but more aggressive.

We Ride More stripped down, there’s more of a raw punk meets Motorhead vibe here, but it’s also got plenty of the elements heard on the rest of the disc. I can make out Lords of the New Church, too.

Tree Rider Rob Zombie and Alice Cooper seem to be channeled here, but there are plenty of other elements, too. This is quite metallic and aggressive and very cool.

White Trash This is very aggressive, very raw and very punk rock in nature.

Don't Touch My Guitar Early Alice Cooper blended with more modern punk rock really sums this screamer up quite nicely.

Lucille The general motif here isn’t really changed from the previous cut. Still, this is tasty.

Die Pretty The bass brings a heavier feeling to this, rather like Motorhead. They bring a lot more groove to the track than that conveys, though. So, perhaps comparisons to Rob Zombie are appropriate and Alice Cooper is certainly on the bill again, too.

Key To Your Heart The motif here is a lot more stripped down, but otherwise not all that different than the rest of the disc. Some parts make me think of Megadeth, though.

Kill A Mockingbird A real bluesy rocker, the lyrics to this are the raunchiest of the set.
