When the Money's Gone

Review by Gary Hill

This short EP features just four songs. It’s got some accessible pop rock that shows some range. This is good and quite entertaining.

This review is available in book format (hardcover and paperback) in Music Street Journal: 2012  Volume 2 at lulu.com/strangesound.

When the Money's Gone

There’s a power pop arrangement to this. It’s pop-oriented and fun. It really feels like it would have been at home in the late 1970s or 1980s.

That Other Guy
Acoustic based, this is a bouncy little pop rocker. It’s nothing earth shattering, but it’s fun with a real roots rock texture. There is a little burst of guitar soloing at the end that’s pretty darned cool.
Closing in on Midnight
There’s almost a jazzy vibe to this free-flowing acoustic based rocker. It also has some definite jam band elements. It’s a good tune and possibly the strongest one here. There’s really a great texture to this. The first guitar solo on this really makes me think of the first Boston album.
Different Eyes
Coming in with an almost 1980s music sound, this works out to more of a stripped down rocker. This isn’t all that special, but it’s pretty effective. There’s a bit of a punk vibe to it at times.
