I’ve placed this one in the progressive rock section of Music Street Journal. I’m sure there are progressive rock purists who will argue with that. Certainly there are straight rock and alternative rock elements here. That said, there are plenty of links to modern prog in the mix. Whatever you call this, though, it’s a very effective set of songs. It works quite well. It’s sure to please a pretty wide range of listeners. It’s a safe bet that even those prog purists will dig this if they give it a fair chance.

Opening with an almost funky guitar sound, this turns to something that feels a bit like modern Rush. That said, the vocals bring more of a straight rock and roll vibe. There are some shifts and turns here, making this more of a pure modern progressive rock sound in a lot of ways. I really dig the guitar solo on this a lot.

This fairly short piece has a dreamy kind of modern progressive rock vibe to it.

Coming out of the previous piece, this is a cool rocker. It’s arguably more alternative rock than progressive rock, but there is still quite a bit in common with some of the more modern prog.

There is a bit of that Rush sort of sound in place here. Otherwise, this is sort of an alternative rocker that’s pretty cool. It’s not a big change, but it works well as closing tune.
