About Last Night

There is a modern pop rock vibe to this music for sure. The thing is, it's also well rooted in the music of the 1970s. I personally have some trouble with some of the vocals here. I should say that I don't like the band Green Day because of the vocals. I tend to think they are too whiny. I feel the same way about two or three songs here. All that said, there is a good balance of music, and this does have a timeless quality. It's a good set, but I wouldn't consider it great.

Were You Ever Really Mine?

Acoustic guitar with a lot of energy starts this. The cut works out from there to a cool pop rock arrangement. This is fun and catchy. I do have one complaint, though. The vocals have a bit too much reverb on them at times. It's only mildly annoying, though, and I actually like this a lot. There is a dropped back instrumental section that has some retro psychedelic twinges built into it.

She Loves Me
This begins in much the same way, but it works out to more of a straightforward, driving rock and roller. As much as I liked the opener, this is even stronger. It's a killer rocker that works really well.
About Last Night
A mellower cut, I'm not sure that this quite fits as a ballad, but it's not far off from that landing point. There is a lot of retro rock in the mix here. That said, it's decidedly modern pop rock based at the same time.
Inside Of Me
This is a bit weaker. The vocals aren't as good. The music feels a lot like something from the early part of the Beatles' output. It's quite old school rock and roll based.
On The Run

The vocals on this one drag it down a bit, too. It's a cool rock and roller beyond that, though. Musically it feels like something that would have been at home in the 1970s.

Bye Bye Baby
The vocals on this really do make me think of Green Day. As mentioned above, that's not a good thing from my perspective. This is pretty much a ballad. I do like the arrangement with multiple layers of harmonies. I just tend to think that this is one of the less effective pieces here. It's also too mellow to serve as a good closer.
