Standalone Syndrome (digital single)

I guess these guys are billed as stoner rock. I tend to think of stoner rock as more slow, plodding, Sabbath-like heavy stuff. There is a bit of that sound here, but these guys really have a lot of progressive rock and space rock in the mix. I can't speak to the rest of their music, but this cut definitely belongs under progressive rock.

Standalone Syndrome
This pounds in fast paced, heavy and very prog-like. It works to something more along the lines of space rock turned new wave. As it shifts to the song proper, it's more hard rocking in a lot of ways. The chorus section is part psychedelic rock, part stoner metal and part prog. The fast paced jam does it up with both prog and space rock in the mix. Another vocal section is heard before they fire out into a fast paced prog instrumental movement that does have some of that stoner rock element at play. They resolve back out to the song proper from there to continue.
