A Man Like You

Review by Gary Hill

This EP features five songs that showcase a real passion for traditional country music. Yet there are more modern elements here, too. A lot of times traditional country music features vocals that aren't precisely "on the spot" by the standard musical definitions. That's certainly true of most of the old time country singers. It's also true here. If you enjoy that old school stuff, you will probably feel right at home here. This is a cool disc. It never feels tired or repetitive.

Track by Track Review
B.T.W.
Roots music with a lot of folk and country merged with Americana is the basic concept here. This is a classy number and a great way to start things in style. The mix of modern and old school country styings on this is quite cool.
Highway

There is a lot of 1960s pop rock in the mix here. Still, this slower moving number has a lot of country in the mix.

Loving a Hurricane
A country ballad with some folk elements in it, this gets powered up a bit as it goes along.
Hot and Heavy
This is a real rocking tune. It's a nice change of pace from the previous numbers. It has some cool guitar work and really stands tall on this set.
I Would Jump
Another that's more of a rocker, there is a bit of a soaring sound to this at times. It's an energetic cut that makes for a good closer.
