Lord Sonny the Unifier

I Love You World (digital single)

Review by Gary Hill

This is another in a string of singles from Lord Sonny the Unifier that I'm reviewing in this issue of MSJ. It's a classy tune that merges classic rock with modern elements. Of course you can say that about most of his songs. This is a solid entry in his catalog.

This review is available in book (paperback and hardcover) form in Music Street Journal: 2020  Volume 6. More information and purchase links can be found at: garyhillauthor.com/Music-Street-Journal-2020.

Track by Track Review
I Love You World
The introduction to this feels somehow classic and familiar. The cut works out to a cool rocking zone from there. This merges a punky edge with prog and mainstream old-school rock sounds. The guitar fills on this have an air of familiarity. For some reason I'm reminded a bit of Red Hot Chili Peppers on this number. This is energetic, compelling and rather catchy. It's a killer tune, really. I think that some of the later portions are among the strongest musical passages ever from this artist.
