Trey Gunn
Live In Chicago, September 6th, 2000
Review by Gary Hill
Trey Gunn and his cohorts came into Chicago and showed that they are definitely masters of their craft. The group performed a number of tracks from Trey's various releases. If you came to the show expecting to hear King Crimson, you would have been disappointed. If what you came for was a vital, guitar-driven, groove-oriented prog instrumental show, you would have been in luck. The band delivered that in spades. This was definitely a show for sitting back and listening to some killer music. Trey's particular style is really hard to pin down, but to quote a famous saw, "I don't know if it's art, but I like it." So did the rest of the audience. Everyone really seemed to enjoy the performance and went away pleased.
