Darkest Hour

Live at Ozzfest, 2004, Alpine Valley, WI

Review by Josh Turner

Darkest Hour is an aerobic instructor's nightmare. You can forget Tae-Bo, Pilates, and even set aside your Atkin's lo-carb shakes. Be sure to suck down a pack of electrolytes before entering the studio. You will absolutely need every ounce of energy you can muster. Their routine is so rigorous that it is only meant for the advanced. Not only did these guys work up a sweat, they were bone dry by the time it was over.
These musicians bring new meaning to hardcore. By their definition, speed is everything. There is no chance in hell to play name that tune with their music. In the time it takes for most songs to play a couple notes, they've already drilled out hundreds. Darkest Hour produced some of the fastest riffs and hooks ever known to man. If they didn't set a new world record at Ozzfest, they certainly raised the bar for the remainder of the day. The guitar lines were both intense and intricate. The music was melodic, methodical, and even somewhat mechanical.

When they came on stage, they blasted off with the brutality of a rocket on takeoff. It wasn't until their set ended that they finally burnt themselves out. Their fuel was somehow enough to take them beyond the hemisphere and out into orbit. The music they produced was lean, mean, and incredibly insane.

In the event you missed them on the Ozzfest tour, be sure to sign up for one of their future sessions. Darkest Hour has a workout plan with guaranteed results.
