Ozric Tentacles

Live In Milwaukee, WI 2000

Review by Gary Hill

The Ozrics came to Milwaukee and brought their particular brand of space rock to an appreciative audience. The band’s style seems to combine elements of Hawkwind with harder almost metallic elements, Grateful Deadish jamming and a solid prog sensibility. Add a light show that is purely awesome (too few bands use projected light patterns and shapes these days), and you have a killer show. The musicianship of this band is considerable and they weave a wonderfully hypnotic pattern of shifting sounds, very much in the same way Hawkwind does. It is also quite refreshing to see fans at a prog show dancing to the music as Deadheads do. The overall effect of an Ozric concert? If this one was any indication, call it “great entertainment”.
