Dope

Live in Rockford, Illinois, July, 2011

Review by Kat and Mike Heitzman

When Dope took the stage it took a few minutes to get the sound just right. Bar 3 is a very small venue and the sound, once adjusted to perfection, is just like you would expect: loud and crushing! Dope sounded absolutely great in this venue.

They poured out tunes such as “Addiction,” ”F*** the Police” and even a few cover tunes such as Billy Idol’s, “Dancing with Myself.” Everyone sang along to all of the songs and the crowd was going as crazy as they could in this small bar. To see a band such as Dope on a small stage, up close and personal, is what true metal fans dream of.  These guys are definitely seasoned entertainers and they really can thrash live. Their newest CD out now is called “No Regrets.” However, they did let slip at this concert that they are working on a new CD, but they did not give a title or play any new unreleased songs.

This was a rare treat and kudos must be given to Bar3 of Rockford, Illinois for having a rowdy band like Dope at their establishment.
