Dream Theater

5 Years In A Livetime (Video)

Review by Gary Hill

This video, the companion to the Once In A Livetime CD, chronicles the recent history of the band through assorted video clips. These clips range from music videos, footage from various live shows, behind the scenes segments and other elements. Highlights of the video include performances with guests (Steve Hogarth, Steve Rothery and Steve Howe, to name a few) and other such rarities. The short snippet of Nightmare Cinema (Dream Theater with members playing each other`s instruments) is a classic. This is a wonderfully entertaining and enlightening look at the band that shows both their serious and humorous sides. Dream Theater`s core lineup on this video is Mike Portnoy, John Petrucci, John Myung and James LaBrie. Kevin Moore is the keyboardist on the earliest clips historically, while Derek Sherinian plays the instrument for the remainder of the video.
