Earache: My Eye

Review by Gary Hill

Remember the days of VHS? Well, this was originally released in the final period of VHS. They've now released it on DVD. This showcases music from a number of bands who were on Earache Records at the time of its release (1999). We get some killer videos from bands like Entombed, Cathedral, Carcass and Sleep. Mind you, the videos here are pretty much all low budget, independent releases. Don't expect any MTV quality stuff. Also, it seems like the transfer from VHS to DVD was done as a straight copying - nothing appears to be cleaned up here. So, this looks like something you would have on video cassette. Still, with these killer obscure videos all in one place, this is a "must have" for fans of the period of metal. It could have been better, but it's still pretty good.
