As someone who has seen the Nuge live a few times in my life, I can testify that he delivers on the rock and roll promise. I know there are those out there who will say that the man is all bluster and posturing and that he isn’t that stellar a technical musician. Frankly, there is a bit of truth to that stance. But the truth is, this is rock and roll. Real rock and roll should be delivered without the kind of stuffy posturing that is part and parcel of classical music. It’s meant to hit you some place lower than the brain – it’s supposed to force you to your feet and get you swaying. For such encounters I can’t picture anything better than Ted Nugent’s brand of swagger. His guitar chops are certainly up to muster and frankly over the top live performances are what really make real rock and roll click – and Nugent’s got it in spades. So, the performance is strong and powerful – just like you want. The videography and sound are at least adequate and probably a bit beyond. This won’t be the best concert film you’ve ever seen, but it’s definitely good enough – and bargain pricing makes it even better. Fans of the Nuge (casual or devoted) should pick up this DVD. It’s a strong one and a great time.
