Vanilla Fudge

When Two Worlds Collide DVD

Review by Gary Hill

The two worlds referenced in the title are those of rock band and orchestra. These two entities share the stage here and the format isn’t something that’s never been tried before. In many ways the Fudge’s attempt is one of the best. Truly their unusual blend of hard rock with contemporary music, classical and jazz stylings and psychedelia is just about built for this kind of a synthesis. I’ve always really thought of Vanilla Fudge as a proggier version of what you’d get if you glued Uriah Heep to Deep Purple. That concept is just made for orchestral treatment. All in all this is a pretty amazing concert and all fans of Vanilla Fudge should love it.
