Return To Forever

Return to Forever Returns DVD

Review by Gary Hill

I have already reviewed the CD of this – so I won’t be looking at the music in this review – you can check out that review for a much more detailed accounting. So, what can I tell you about the DVD. Well, this is a killer live performance and since it’s a modern day situation, the recording quality is excellent. Those things work together to make this a must have for RTF fans as well as fans of the individual members (Al Di Meola, Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke and Lenny White). I’d also say anyone who is into killer fusion, but hasn’t really gotten into any of these guys (is that possible?) should look to this for an excellent first introduction. The band is purely on fire and you just don’t get much better than this.

This review is available in book format (hardcover and paperback) in Music Street Journal: 2009  Volume 3 at lulu.com/strangesound.
