The Beatles

Rare and Unseen DVD

Review by Gary Hill

This is definitely a treasure trove for Beatles fans. What we have here is a whole collection of all kinds of never before seen rarities. Those include live footage (thought to be the earliest in existence) of the band on stage in Liverpool in 1962. It also includes rare interviews, home movies and other vintage live performance film. There are interviews with people who were there behind the scenes in the early days of the group (including Phil Collins).  This is without question a “must have” for fans of the band. Those who might have a more passing acquaintance will find it interesting and entertaining, too – although not quite as mandatory a purchase. All in all this is a cool DVD.

This review is available in book format (hardcover and paperback) in Music Street Journal: 2009  Volume 5 at lulu.com/strangesound.
