I’ve always dug Suicidal Tendencies. They were a band that were never interested in labels – or in fitting into this kind of music or that. They did the music they wanted to do. More often than not that fit somewhere between hard core punk and thrash, but try to find the dividing lines and you’d probably be lost. Well, it’s good to see that in the new millennium this outfit still has it. Sure, only one original member is left, but it’s ST’s main man Mike Muir. This show was the final concert at the Olympic Auditorium, which had been a Mecca of punk rock in the day. As CBGB’s was to New York City, so was the Olympic Auditorium to Los Angeles. So, it’s somehow a fitting tribute to have Suicidal Tendencies play the final show. These guys put on a super high energy concert that was full of their classic music. It’s all captured in a video that’s just like the band, energetic and powerful but never overproduced. It’s got some raw edges – and this is one instance where that’s a good thing. I have to say that this is really a video that’s worthy of the Suicidal Tendencies nameplate. I like it a lot and I’m guessing most fans of the band will, too.
