Barclay James Harvest

Berlin: A Concert For the People DVD

Review by Gary Hill

I never really heard Barclay James Harvest, but had heard of them. I always thought that they’d be a lot like The Strawbs. It turns out they are probably a lot closer to The Moody Blues. I like the music here a lot. The concert looks dated, but the video and audio are good for the time (1980). There is an annoyance in that rather than concentrate on the stage the whole time, the visuals go off into some odd tangents. Still, this set has convinced me that I need to check out the group’s catalog. I think I’d really like it. For that reason, I’d recommend this to fans of the group, or those looking to experience them for the first time. There are some bonus bits in the form of promotional videos and the like.
